Board certification earned by
72 PB County teachers

The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards has announced
that 72 Palm Beach County teachers achieved National Board Certification
this year.
The county now has a total of 569 National Board Certified Teachers.
Florida ranks first in the nation in the number of new National Board
Certified Teachers with 1,675. Nearly 8,500 teachers across the country
achieved National Board Certification in 2007.
Florida shows an 11 percent increase in the number of teachers who
achieved National Board Certification in 2007 compared to the year
before.
Also, NBCTs make up nearly 7 percent of the state’s teaching
force.
Broward County was first in the number of teachers certified in 2007
(302) with Miami-Dade County, third (192); Hillsborough County, sixth
(131); Orange County, seventh (95); Brevard County, eighth (91); Duval
County, ninth (88) and Palm Beach County, 12th .
Board certified teachers in Boca and Delray schools include: Elizabeth
Burger, Pine Grove Elementary, Delray Beach; William Castillo, Omni
Middle School, Boca Raton; Lauren Gardner, Hammock Pointe Elementary
School, Boca Raton; Jamey Hill, Boca Raton Community High School;
Diane Jasinski, S. D. Spady Elementary School, Delray Beach; Lisa
Lorenz, Calusa Elementary, Boca Raton; Jamie Quevedo, Spanish River
Community High School, Boca Raton; Randi Sanders, Hammock Pointe Elementary,
Boca Raton and Vanessa Vatier, Pine Grove Elementary.
