Attempted Carjacking

Boca Raton police responded to a call about an attempted armed carjacking about 8 p.m. Sunday in the Winn-Dixie parking lot on Camino Real, police said.

Upon arrival, police said officers made contact with a woman who said she had parked her vehicle in the parking lot in order to speak on her cell phone.  While parked, an unidentified man knocked on her window and asked for the time. 

After the victim responded through her closed window, said police, the suspect displayed a dark colored handgun and ordered her to get out of the car.  The victim stated that she was unclear on whether or not the gun was real, and opted to lock her doors and drive away, the report says. 

While leaving the scene, she observed the suspect walking east through the parking lot.

Shoplifter Charged

Boca Raton police arrested man about 12:40 p.m. June 6 and charged him with shoplifting a pair of sweatpants worth $95 from Macy’s Department Store at the Town Center at Boca Raton mall, police said.  Police said he was processed and released on his own recognizance with a date to appear in court.

Vandalism Report

Boca Raton police said a resident called June 6 to report that vandals had spray-painted words in red paint on the side of his townhouse.  He said vandalism is an ongoing problem at the complex where he lives, a police report said.

Laptop Stolen

The manager of a medical office told police June 6 that someone stole a laptop computer from his desk.  He said his office had been locked prior to the theft, police said.

Car Damaged

A Boca Raton woman told police June 6 that someone scratched the driver’s side of her car while it was in a parking lot.
