Boca Raton Police Blotter

June 3rd, 2008

Purse Snatch

Boca Raton police arrested a suspect just after 6:30 p.m. May 29 on a charge of purse snatching, police said.

Public Information Officer Sandra Boonenberg said Hanzel Bloodsaw, 38, who listed no permanent address, was taken into custody following the incident in the parking lot of Macy’s at the Town Center at Boca Raton mall.

The victim told police she and a friend had just arrived, parked
the car and walked toward Macy’s when a male ran up behind them and grabbed the purse off the victim’s shoulder, police said.

The suspect ran north to a waiting older model gold pick-up truck, police said, and left, heading east on Glades Road.

As Boca detectives worked the case, they located the truck in Dania Beach. With help from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Boca Raton detectives found the purse and arrested Bloodsaw. He was charged with robbery by sudden snatching and a companion was
arrested on unrelated charges, police said.

The investigation is on-going and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Juan Carlos Pijuan at (561) 338-1387.

Car Accident

Three people were seriously injured June 1 when the SUV they were riding in left I-95 southbound at the Boca-Delray line, overturned and rolled across the CSX railroad tracks, said Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers identified the driver as Alexander Resto, 21, of Lantana. The two children who were seriously injured were identified by police as Alexander Resto, 5, and Janaya Resto, 3.

One-year-old, Alexis Resto, was the only person in the vehicle who was using a seatbelt and was not hurt, FHP said.

The crash remains under investigation.

Stolen Case

A Boca Raton woman told police May 9 that someone smashed out the rear window of her car and stole a silver makeup case worth $300, according to a report.
