May 12th, 2008

McDonald’s Robbed

Boca Raton police are searching for two armed robbers who held up the McDonald’s on West Yamato Road shortly after 10 p.m. on May 5, police said.

A witness who was at the drive-through window called 911 and stated she saw a man jump over the counter and a second man grab an employee from behind, said police spokeswoman Officer Sandra Boonenberg.  Both had bandanas over their faces.

The manager said a man holding a handgun approached her and demanded money from a safe, police said.  The woman got a deposit bag containing about $1,800 and gave it to the robber.  She also handed over money from cash registers, the report said.

Boonenberg said the second armed robber ordered two other employees to the rear of the kitchen and onto their knees. Police said the suspects may have escaped in a car.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Juan Carlos Pijuan at (561) 338-1387.
