The Florida Atlantic University National Alumni Association (FAUNAA) hosted two private screenings of the movie, “Sex and the City,” at the Muvico Palace 20’s Premier VIP theater in Boca Raton.
The first screening, held June 2, brought more than 70 people to the theater for an evening that also included food and drinks on site at Bogart’s Bar and Grille. This special showing sold out two hours after the email invitation was distributed to FAU alums.
Due to the popularity of this event, a second showing and reception took place at Muvico on June 5. This screening had an audience of close to 50 alumni and friends.
“What a great feeling to have been part of such a fabulous and unique alumni get-together,” said Stella Quintero, an alumnus from the class of 2002. “As soon as I opened the e-vite, I responded.”
Recognizing the appeal of the movie, particularly to female viewers, the FAUNAA saw this as an opportunity to bring together women alumni.
“With women comprising more than 50 percent of FAU’s alumni body, we planned this event specifically for women,” said Lee Collier ’99, ’08, director of alumni relations. “Most of those in the audience were women, but a few men did attend. It was a great success, which we hope to recreate with another screening event in the fall.”
