Mosaics, puppets, science exploration at Sugar Sand Park

The following programs are scheduled at Sugar Sand Park in Boca Raton:

Adult Programs

Make Your Own Mosaic
Register now in person
Learn the techniques of creating mosaics from renowned teacher Lori McInerney, who has appeared on Home and Garden Television Network. Using china, stained glass and more, students will be cut, glue and grout a project of their choice. Materials fee paid to the instructor.

Ages 18 and up. Five to 25 members.
Instructor: Lori McInerney
Days: Wednesdays, July 18-August 8, 2-4 p.m.
Cost: Five classes-Resident $125; Non-resident $143.75

Thursday Movie Classics: A Summer of Bond…James Bond
Dates: Thursday. July 17, “Dr. No”; Aug. 21, “Goldfinger.”
Time: 7:30 p.m. Cost: $1, includes popcorn, movie and drink.

Children’s Programs

Morning Movie Madness: Spaced Out Summer “Space Jam”
Dates: Sundays, July 13, “Buzz Lightyear of Star Command” and Aug. 10, Treasure Planet”
Time: 11 a.m. Cost: $1, includes popcorn, movie and drink.

Sing Song Story Time
Join singing, puppets, dancing and interactive stories with positive self-esteem enhancing themes.
Instructor: Carol Ann Birtwell
Dates: Mondays, July 7, Aug. 4, 10-11 a.m. Free.

Gymobree Art (registration begins July 1)
The new Gymboree Art program will inspire the imagination and help children build physical and social skills as they paint, draw, and create. A hands-on approach allows children to explore different textures, dress up in costumes, and paint. Material Fees paid to the instructor.
Ages: 18 mos-5 years.                              Min-5; Max -12

Children’s Drama Workshop (one week).

Learn self-esteem, poise, creativity, discipline, and memorization skills while having fun at the theatre!  Classes in improvisation, mime, monologues, character study, cold reading techniques, audition techniques, voice, movement, make up, technical aspects and more. Please bring a lunch.
Ages: 6-15                                            
Instructors:  Kris Coffelt, Russell Ellsion, and Tera Young
Days: Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 7-11
Cost: Three-week class; Resident $150; non-resident $172.50.

Florida Citrus Labels
This traveling exhibit is a collection of citrus labels that represent the thousands used in Florida between the late 1800s and the 1960s.

Sugar Sand Park Community Center
“Boca Festival Day’s” Juried Exhibition
This exhibition of local artists features paintings, photography, sculpture and jewelry.  Sugar Sand Park Community Center’s Juried Art Exhibition is a Boca Festival Days event, part of a month-long city-wide celebration, organized by the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce.

Newest Exhibit- Sportsology
Sportsology focuses on the science behind sports, with hands-on challenges that test athletic abilities while you learn how your body works. Discover the scientific principles of the human body at work in different sporting events like soccer, basketball, and baseball in this fun new exhibit.

Sportsology will be at the Explorium through Labor Day.
