The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a man at a friend’s home early Thursday, said PBSO spokesman Sgt. Pete Palenzuela.
According to his report, the sheriff’s office received a 911 call just before 1 a.m. saying gunshots had been heart in the 9000 block of Liberty Court in West Boca Raton.
Officers found a wounded man inside the house. He was taken to Delray Medical Center where he later died of his wounds, said PBSO.
The victim was identified Tyler Blaine Kennett, 17, who lives a few houses away on Liberty Court. PBSO said he was at a friend’s house when the shooting took place.
Palenzuela told the Boca Raton News it’s uncertain whether it was a drive-by shooting or whether someone in a car got out, walked to the house and fired.
He did note that search dogs found a scent outside the home, but that could have been from people rushing to the house after the shots were fired, he said.
PBSO detectives from the Violent Crimes Division and Crime Scene personal responded to that area.
Anyone with information about the incident are asked to contact the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office at 561-688-4000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
